"Following
Jesus into Perseverance"
Matthew 5:10-12
|
|
Today we hear the
news about the persecuted church. This is a reality today as it was in
the time of Christ. Peter told us that we should not be shocked when we
suffer for the Savior. “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the
painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were
happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of
Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed” (I
Peter 4:12-13) Persecution means to be attacked for the purpose of being
driven away. This is the result of world’s hatred for God. Paul said
to Timothy, “Everyone who wants to
live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (II
Timothy 3:12) |

gifts will be presented to 3 lucky Dad’s.
"Following Jesus into
Christlikeness"
Matthew 5:13-16
|
|
Matthew 5:13-16 "You are the
salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be
made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown
out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a
hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a
bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone
in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that
they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." |
|
This week’s sermon
emphasizes the impact a Godly Dad can have on his home and community.
Children will soak up the actions and words of their parents learning
habits and expressions for the good or for the not so good. A hymn by
Thomas Chisholm asks God to “stamp Thine own image deep on my heart”.
Being a dad with Jesus’ love will impact the entire home. May God
enable all our Fathers to be “the salt and light for our families”. |

"Following
Jesus into Peacemaking"
Matthew 5:9
|
Matthew 5:9 “
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God”.
|
Christians
seek to be men and women who understand the peace of God in
their own lives, and promote peace through biblical
reconciliation in the body of Christ. William Hendriksen
comments : “in a world of peace-breaking, this beatitude shows
what a thoroughly relevant, vital and dynamic force Christianity
really is...True peacemakers are all those whose leader is the
God of peace, who aspire after peace with all men, proclaim the
gospel of peace, and pattern their lives after the Prince of
Peace.” – Pray for peace and be a peacemaker.
